For 20 years, over 600 single mothers and their children have received assistance through Fellowship Housing’s transitional housing program. Throughout the Northwest Suburbs, women contact the organization that began in July 1991, to receive safe, subsidized housing and financial literacy training to create a better future for their families.
Brooke Bartlow, Executive Director for Fellowship Housing knows this is an exciting time in for the organization. “At Fellowship Housing, we believe women are empowered when they take responsibility for their lives. For 20 years we have taken a holistic approach of case management and accountability that assists women in achieving their goals. We believe every family deserves, safe, decent housing and that by equipping families with financial literacy education we enable them to move from transitional housing to housing of their choice,” Bartlow urged.
As more than 200 families have passed through the Fellowship Housing doors, many alumni now want to give back to current families in need. At a recent alumni gathering, one of the very first Fellowship Housing families was in attendance. She shared that her life is completely different from when she entered the program. She is now able to assist others because she was helped in a time of need.
Fellowship Housing, serving single mothers and their children who are homeless or one small crisis away from homelessness is always looking to assist more women and children.
