Mother's Day Celebration 2025

On May 3rd, we had the joy of celebrating the incredible single moms of Fellowship Housing at a special Mother's Day event at Light of Christ Church in Algonquin. The day was filled with beauty, love, and encouragement — all centered around honoring the resilience and strength of our moms.

From the moment they walked in, moms were treated to a well-deserved day of pampering and fun. Mariaeliza, a talented and generous stylist, donated her time to give complimentary haircuts, making each mom feel confident and cared for. Nearby, a beautiful makeup boutique station — stocked with donations from Target — allowed moms to "shop" for new high-end cosmetics and fill handmade makeup bags crafted with love by Loving Covers.

One of the sweetest touches of the day was the build-your-own flower bouquet station. Moms carefully selected fresh blooms to create their own personalized arrangements or boutonnieres and captured the memory with a photo in front of a stunning backdrop designed by Tiffany, a Fellowship Housing graduate. These photos found a home in custom frames and card craft supplies were lovingly made by the DeSouza family.

The celebration didn’t stop there. Kids joined in the fun with hands-on crafts — from a colorful planter decorating station to a heartfelt card-making activity, donated by the Desouza family, featuring puzzle pieces symbolizing how each child is a unique part of their family’s story.

Of course, no celebration is complete without great food! Thanks to generous donations by JewelOsco on Algonquin Road, Sue Welch, and Becca Everding & her small group, families enjoyed a delicious spread that included fresh fruit, donuts, Jimmy John's sandwiches, drinks, and cupcakes from Peterson’s Bakery.

We are incredibly grateful to Light of Christ Church and Philomena Bruner in Algonquin for opening their doors and hearts to host this beautiful event. Their welcoming space made the day even more special.

A special thank-you to West Ridge Community Church for their thoughtful donation of gift bags for the moms. Your generosity added an extra layer of joy to an already unforgettable day.

To every volunteer, especially Nancy Garcia and Kara Dziewior, donor, and friend who made this celebration possible — thank you. You reminded each mom that she is seen, valued, and deeply loved.

Happy Mother’s Day to the amazing women we are honored to walk alongside every day.
