Meet the Communities Investing in Fellowship Housing Moms

‍ ‍

At Fellowship Housing, we talk a lot about what it takes to empower a single mom to build a new legacy. The honest answer is it takes a whole community.

Fellowship Housing is built on a diversified foundation of support. Individual donors and private foundations make up 67% of our annual income — the backbone of everything we do. Fundraising events, client fees, and investment income make up the rest. Government grants represent 1% of our annual budget.

The municipalities and townships across the Chicagoland area who partner with Fellowship Housing connect us to the social service networks in their communities, share knowledge of their residents’ needs, and help ensure that every mom we serve feels supported not just within Fellowship Housing but by the local leaders of the community where she lives. Many also offer services through their own offices that directly benefit our families — food pantries, counseling, activities for children, and more.

Because of these partnerships, moms know they are supported by their local community leaders and have support systems they can lean on right where they live. That kind of partnership is incredibly impactful — and we want you to meet the communities making it possible.

Below are the municipalities and townships that have been standing with single-mom-led families — some for nearly two decades, and some brand new in 2026.

Village of Schaumburg | Community Development Block Grant — Partners Since 2007

Nearly 20 years of partnership says everything. The Village of Schaumburg has been investing in Fellowship Housing moms since 2007 — connecting us to community resources and helping us show up better for their families. Nearly two decades of partnership represents a community that has consistently said: we believe in this mission, and we believe in these families.

Schaumburg Township | Welfare Services Division Grant & Mental Health Board Grant — Partners Since 2009 & 2024

Schaumburg Township shows up for Fellowship Housing moms in two powerful ways — through the Welfare Services Division since 2009, and the Mental Health Board since 2024. Together, they address both housing stability and the whole person. Fifteen-plus years of partnerships and still growing.

Elgin Township | Social Services Grant — Partners Since 2019

Elgin Township is home to 10 Fellowship Housing apartments. Beyond the funding, Elgin Township has been a community connector — helping us understand the unique needs of their residents and ensuring we are showing up for their families in the most meaningful way possible.

‍Hanover Township | Mental Health Board Grant — Partners Since 2019

‍The Hanover Township Mental Health Board has understood from the beginning that housing and mental health go hand in hand. Since 2019, their investment has helped moms from Hanover Township access the stability, support, and care they need to rebuild their lives and build something new.

‍Bloomingdale Township | Mental Health Board Grant — Partners Since 2025

Bloomingdale Township’s Mental Health Board joined us in 2025, and what has stood out from the start is how genuinely invested they are in the relationship — not just the grant. Their connections to local services help us serve Bloomingdale Township families with greater depth and care.

City of Aurora | Quality of Life Grant & Affordable Housing Solutions Grant — Partners Since 2025

The City of Aurora came alongside Fellowship Housing in 2025 with the Quality of Life Grant — and then deepened that commitment in 2026 with the Affordable Housing Solutions Grant. A partnership that started strong and got stronger — that means a great deal to the families we serve together.

Northfield Township | Human Services Grant — Partners Since 2026

‍Northfield Township joined us in 2026 through their Human Services Grant, and they have already shown us the kind of engaged, community-minded partner they are. We look forward to learning from them and growing this relationship in the years ahead. ‍

Palatine Township | Human Needs Grant — Partners Since 2026

‍Palatine Township joined us in 2026 through their Human Needs Grant. Their investment reflects a community that believes every family deserves a chance at something better. We are honored to have them as a partner.

‍From two partners in 2007 to nine in 2026, this growing circle reflects something meaningful: as Fellowship Housing has expanded across the Chicagoland area, we have sought out local government leaders who invest in their residents — and time and time again, they have said yes. They see the value Fellowship Housing brings to their communities, and they have consistently stepped forward to invest in the families we serve together.

Because of partners like these — alongside the generous individual donors, private foundations, and event supporters whose generosity makes our work possible — Fellowship Housing is able to offer more robust services to single moms and their children: safe, transitional housing, financial literacy training, and the wrap-around support they need to move from crisis to long-term independence.

Each month, we’ll be highlighting one of these communities on our social media — sharing more about what the partnership means and the families it touches. We invite you to follow along and share the love.
