Stacey's Story of Faith, Sacrifice, and a Blue House

“I never lost faith. I knew somehow, someway, the Lord would provide.”

- Stacey, a 2026 Fellowship Housing Graduate

Stacey's son drew a picture one afternoon — a simple house, the kind a child draws when he's imagining something that feels both distant and certain. He told the adult he showed it to that it was the house that God was going to give them one day.

He colored it blue.

When Stacey saw it, she could barely contain herself. She knew something he didn't. The house was already real. The closing date was set. And it was, in fact, blue.

Stacey told her Family Advocate Sandi, "My son drew this today! Our new house he said that God is going to give us one day!! Oh sweet baby!! If you only knew!! And he colored it BLUE!!! Our house really is blue!!"

She hadn't told her children yet. She knew the wait would feel too long for them. So she carried the secret close, watching her son draw pictures of a future he was praying for — while she was quietly making it real.

This is what two years of sacrifice looks like.

Stacey came to Fellowship Housing as a single mom who knew she wanted more for her children but wasn't sure how to get there. She was paired with Sandi, her Family Advocate, who walked alongside her through budgeting, financial coaching, and the slow, steady work of building a life on solid ground. It wasn't easy. There were hard days. But Stacey kept showing up.

"I never lost faith," she said. "I knew somehow, someway the Lord would provide. Yes, my flesh would test me — but I always went back to what the Lord has already done."

Stacey graduated from Fellowship Housing in 2026 — a milestone that marked not an ending, but a launching point. She had done the hard work. Now she was ready for the next step: a home of her own.

Through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, that dream became a closing date: May 12, 2026.

When Stacey told Sandi, the words came tumbling out — "You're amazing!! Thank you!! I can't even right now!!" Sandi, true to her role, gently handed the credit back and said, 'God provided the resources, but you did the hard work.'

Stacey didn't hesitate.

"Thanks so much! Amen!!! He sure did. I chose my babies. I chose our future. I chose the sacrifice. I am beyond excited!!! He gave me Fellowship Housing. You. (Sandi) The resources to have a home better than I could have ever dreamed of! This is more than I could have ever imagined to even think I could have!!"

There's a verse Stacey keeps coming back to right now. Luke 1:45: “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her."

"It's currently my fave," she shared. "I never lost faith. I knew somehow, someway the Lord would provide."

And today, a little boy who once drew a blue house gets to walk through the front door of one.
